Summit Package 2Days/1Night

DAY 1:

07.00 am, Registration at at the Rinjani Information Center (RIC) in Sembalun Village (1.051 m) and briefing describes the route details, explains rubbish management and safety procedures. The trek starts from Sembalun Villagge with a gentle ascent walking through open grassland used as cattle grazing by local people. Resting at Pos 1 Pemantauan (1.300 m), after about three hours from Sembalun we reach Pos 2 Tengengean (1.500 m) and enjoying the beautiful views of Mt. Rinjani’s summit (3.726 m). After another hours ascent to Pos 3 Pada Balong (1.800 m), we take rest here for have a lunch and a fresh or hot drinks. After lunch and a rest, we continue the steep 3,5 hours to Plawangan Sembalun crater rim (2.639 m), climb admist the pine like Casuarina species locally known as Cemara, perhaps seeing evidence of wild pigs and the long-tailed grey macaque monkeys to the camp site at Plawangan Sembalun crater rim. From here enjoying the incredible views; as the sunset, we can see Segara Anak Lake, Sembalun Village, the Summit of Mt. Rinjani and all the way to Mt. Agung in Bali. Dinner and stay overnight in the camp site followed by the night sounds.

 DAY 2:

02.00 am, Wake up and have a light breakfast. 03.00 am, Start is necessary for the hard three-hours climb to the Mt. Rinjani’s Summit (3.726 m) on volcanic screen.Once there, enjoy proud feelings of satisfaction band the amazing sunrise views across the Wallace Line to Mt. Agung Bali and Sumbawa, and down to the lake Segara Anak (2.000 m) within the new cone active volcano of Gunung Baru (2.351 m). After sunrise, return down the ridge passing numerous Edelweiss plants to the crater rim camp site for a well-deserved breakfast. After breakfast, start to descent from the Plawangan Sembalun crater rim and after three hours walk through Pos 3 Pada Balong (1.800 m). From here is a beautiful view of Sembalun Villages and Mt. Rinjani summit towers above us. We have lunch on the way of the trek at Pos 2 Tengengean (1.500 m). The road head is reached after another four hours gentle descent through open country and the trek ends at the road head in Sembalun Village (1.156 m).
