Classic Package 3Days/2Nights

DAY 1:

07.00 am, Registration at the Rinjani Trek Center (RTC) in Senaru Village (601 m) and briefing describes the route details, explains rubbish management and safety procedures.The first hour of the trek climb steeply through thick tropical forests rich in flora, bird life and a variety of butterflies. We might see orchids, the long-tailed grey macaque monkey and if lucky, the rare black ebony leaf monkey known locally as Lutung. Rusa deer are forest dwellers are occasionally seen along the trek trail. The smaller barking deer or Kijang has an alarm call with a distinct dog-like bark. Rest stops are taken along the way and in Pos 2 Montong Satas shelter (1.500 m) where village stories and local legends are related by your guide. Features include banyan tree Bunut Ngengkang that looks like someone standing with their legs apart and the Batu Penyesalan stone.We  reach at Pos 3 Mondokan Lokak (2.000 m) through the forest after about five hours climb from Senaru or continue the ascent for another couple of hours through grassy meadows to Plawangan Senaru  crater rim (2.641 m). From the crater rim are sweeping views across to Bali within Mt. Agung and down to Segara Anak lake (2.000 m) within Rinjani crater. New cone volcano of Gunung Baru (2.351 m) is an active volcano, last erupting in 1994. After enjoying the spectacular views, the trek proceeds for a couple of hours down the trail to the crater lake of Segara Anak where the rest of day is spent relaxing, swimming or fishing. There is plenty of time to explore the pilgrimage hot springs, believed to have healing powers, walk only 10 minutes  from the camp site. Dinner and stay overnight in the lake side camp site.

DAY 2:

After breakfast, walk for about half hour to explore the cave Goa Susu and pilgrimage hot springs. There is plenty of time to enjoy natural hot spa, enjoy the time during the morning for a relaxing. After lunch, leave lake for the three hours steep ascent up to Plawangan Sembalun crater rim (2.639 m). Look out for edelweiss along the path. Observe the view of the lake from the other side and the island of Sumbawa across the tropical ocean. From here enjoying the incredible views; as the sunset, we can see Segara Anak Lake, Sembalun Village, the Summit of Mt. Rinjani and all the way to Mt. Agung in Bali. Dinner and stay overnight in the camp site at Plawangan Sembalun crater rim.

 DAY 3:

02.00 am, Wake up and have a light breakfast. 03.00 am, Start is necessary for the hard three-hours climb to the Mt. Rinjani’s Summit (3.726 m) on volcanic screen. Once there, enjoy proud feelings of satisfaction band the amazing sunrise views across the Wallace Line to Mt. Agung Bali and Sumbawa, and down to the lake Segara Anak (2.000 m) within the new cone active volcano of Gunung Baru (2.351 m). After sunrise, returns to crater rim camp site and  it takes time approximately one  half hours for well deserved breakfast. After breakfast, start to descent from the Sembalun crater rim is amidst the pine like Casuarina species locally known as Cemara and perhaps seeing evidence  of wild pigs and the long-tailed grey macaque monkeys. After about 3,5  hours reach Pos 3 Pada Balong (1.800 m) through grassland used as cattle grazing by local people. Mt.Rinjani summit towers above us and from here is a beautiful view of Sembalun Villages. We have lunch on the way of the trek called Tengengean, Pos 2(1.500 m). The road head is  reached after another four hours gentle descent through open country and the trek ends at the road head in Sembalun Village (1.156 m).
